“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). Our words are one of the most powerful tools the Lord has given us. Words are like a fine knife. A good knife can be used to carve a beautiful Thanksgiving turkey, or that same knife, used improperly, can bring destruction. In fact, our words determine whether we will have life or death.

Through our Heavenly Father, we have access to vast resources. We have been given everything that we may experience a glorious spiritual life and live that life in godliness (2 Peter 1:3); a life like our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. I remember being about eight years old and I was on a highly anticipated fishing trip with my Grandfather. We stopped at a gas station to get some sodas, but as I walked from the truck to the store a small dog ran towards me barking excitedly. I had always been afraid of dogs, especially barking dogs, so in a brave and manly way (you can imagine my eight-year-old self screaming hysterically!)
You may not know that last week I had surgery on my vocal cords, and as I speak for a living it was a challenging prospect. But even before the surgery, the Lord encouraged me and gave me hope through two randomly spoken words from God.
