You may not know that last week I had surgery on my vocal cords, and as I speak for a living it was a challenging prospect. But even before the surgery, the Lord encouraged me and gave me hope through two randomly spoken words from God.
A week before the surgery I was with two brothers, Ron and John. Being the brothers they are, they insisted on praying for me. After they prayed Ron said, while he didn’t know the book, chapter and verse, he had a word. The Lord told him, “No weapon formed against you will prosper.” Ron said he believed that passage was from the Lord for me. The passage is Isaiah 54:17, and as I thanked him I tucked the scripture away into my heart.
Later that night, as I was driving home, I received a phone call from Pepi, a friend who lives in Phoenix, Arizona. He called to say he had been praying for me and that he had a word for me. The word was, you guessed it, Isaiah 54:17.
Of course I know that …Every fact (Rhema; Word; Romans 10:17; Matthew 4:4) is to be confirmed by the testimony of two or three witnesses. 2 Corinthians 13:1. So I received that promise.
As I got up the morning of the surgery the Lord gave me a deep peace and hope that everything was going to be all right. The word the Lord gave me–the word used to comfort and sustain me–He gave to two totally unrelated, unconnected brothers on opposite sides of the USA.
As I drove the 25 minutes to the hospital with my wife, she agreed and confessed the Word of God with me. Those confessions of truth focused my heart on a loving and caring Heavenly Father. How is that for the Lord to comfort a person in need? I praise God for brothers who care and a faithful, loving, supportive wife.
By the way, the report was good and the growth was declared benign. Praise God!
