Rick Sizemore calls himself “a country boy from Okeechobee, Florida” whose life was grabbed and changed forever by the Lord as He led him into teaching and sharing the heart of the Father.
He was raised in the church, but as an athlete, sports were the central focus of his life through high school and into college. After injuries prematurely ended his college career, he turned his focus to business, earning a degree in Finance from Jacksonville State University in 1978 and then joining his father as a partner in a chain of convenience stores and commercial real estate properties.
In 1986, Rick and his wife Paula received a call from the Lord to go into full-time ministry. He received a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Seminary and pastored a small church in Southwest Virginia.
In 1991, Rick and Paula moved to the New River Valley, in Virginia to begin Eagle’s Nest, a campus ministry of Radford University and Virginia Tech, which quickly grew to include hundreds of students each week. In the late 1990’s Rick briefly returned to the pastorate, but after a series of health problems the Lord moved him into leadership at Living Waters Christian Fellowship in Boone, NC.
In 2001, Rick and Paula were sent out by Living Waters with a commission to return to Blacksburg, VA and found a church. Rick took the role of elder and teaching pastor of the new church, Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship.
Throughout this time Rick has had a deep passion for the Word of God, and through intensive Bible study has received revelation about the heart of the Father and releasing people into the freedom of a relationship with Christ. Rick’s revelation has been described as, “The topical organization of the sum of Scripture so others may see the fullness of God’s truth in an applicable way.”
In 2008, Rick stepped down as the teaching pastor of Dwelling Place to take an oversight role of lead elder of the church and to focus on God’s work through DPI Ministries.
Rick is the author of four books and many teaching series. He teaches the Word of God in churches, college campuses, retreats, and conferences around the world bringing his desire for God’s people to intimately experience the fullness of God and see them built up and released as sons and daughters of their Heavenly Father. His heart is to see God’s people released into a life of victory in Christ and equipped to minister that victory to others.
Rick and Paula live in Pembroke, VA and have two children, Shea and Michele, in whom they are very pleased.
